Think of some of the most common and classical instruments known today, some of them were made in Italy, like the Violin, viola, cello, double bass, and the Piano. Specifically the pianoforte originated in our very own city of Florence upon the request of the royal Medici family. Besides being the birth place to these and other instruments, Italy is also the birthplace of Opera, and numerous are the Italian world renowned composers like: Vivaldi. Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, and many others.
About Courses
Our music courses are divided into two sections, those that can be taken in-house or those taken out of house at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Music.
Our In-house music courses are mainly practical, with the exception of one theoretical course. The theoretical course is based on the history of music in Italy, and the student will see the progression of the music from Italian classical to Italian contemporary and pop. Our Practical courses are in piano or individual voice lessons. For these courses the student is not required to have any prior level of experience, but there is an additional small fee for these individual lessons. Also all of our students can participate in the church choir, and receive credit for it as well.
Our out of house course is made possible through an agreement with the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of Music. Any student attending villa who is a music major in their home university, can apply and audition to continue taking courses of their major at the conservatory. The student will have to show proof from home university of enrollment in the specific music major and current level therein. Upon arrival the student must undergo and pass an audition to be able to attend the conservatory. Once there the student follows a course set out by their instructor and may even be able to participate in some of the conservatories concerts and events, if deemed capable. To further clarify this option is not one for beginners and there is a separate fee for enrollment in the conservatory. (For more info regarding this option please contact us)
NOTE: ALL COURSE CREDITS ARE IN QUARTER HOURS, WHICH 3 QUARTER HOURS TRANSLATES TO 1 SEMESTER HOUR
