The master’s degree programs are intended for those who have a bachelor’s degree in theology a who have a course of study congruent with the faculty of theology.
The number of credits required to earn the master’s degree is pare to 120 CFU including “Pastoral Internship” (12 CFU, required for RDS and PDF addresses) and a thesis (21 CFU) of about 80-100 pages. [Presidency Council of June 22, 2017, Vote No. 113].
The master’s degree program in Theology is divided into three streams. More than half of the courses are common to all addresses, the remainder are characterizing courses.
The three addresses are:
Family ministry
The course offers training suitable for working professionally in pastoral care of souls, church ministry and intervening to support the spiritual needs of families . It provides for compulsory attendance.
Religion, Rights and Society
This course offers interdisciplinary theological training that embraces law, sociology and communication techniques. Provides for compulsory attendance.
Peace, Religion and Multiculturalism.
The course imparts a range of knowledge useful in dealing with conflicts, tensions, and violence that arise from the simultaneous contact in a territory between different and antagonistic cultures, ethnicities, and religious identities.
N.B. This Master’s Degree does not constitute a qualifying qualification for the purpose of entry into Adventist pastoral ministry.
