Last weekend the Adventist Villa Aurora College community gathered to experience together the opening ceremony of the new academic year 2025-2026, an appointment that marks the beginning of a shared educational and spiritual journey.
The ceremony began on Friday evening with a time of worship and a message from Xavier Scuccimarri, dean of the Faculty of Theology, who introduced this year’s motto, “Called to go – Called to go.” Beginning with the text of Hebrews 11:8, we were reminded of the example of Abraham, who was called by God to embark on a journey into the unknown, trusting his promise.
Saturday opened with Sabbath School, devoted to reflections on the theme of Exodus, led by T. Pispisa, M. De Giovanni, C. Ponticella, T. Rimoldi, L. Viana and M. Vitarelli.
A particularly significant moment was the reception: the presentation of new Adventist Faculty of Theology (FAT) students, new students in the DiLCAI program and volunteers, who will enrich the academic community this year.
Saturday morning concluded with a sermon by Professors A. Pecchioli and N. Petruk, who emphasized the beauty and responsibility of God’s call, inviting everyone to respond with faith and courage.
In the afternoon, the ceremony continued with a new moment of praise, the presentation of FAT and DiLCAI staff and faculty, confirming the centrality of the academic body in the education of students.
A special event made the opening of the year even more solemn: the awarding of the degree of Bachelor of Theology to Benjamin Dwomoh, who crowned his studies with great joy and gratitude.
The entire weekend bore witness to the strength of the community, united in starting a new journey. Adventist University Institute is confirmed as a place where study, spirituality and life together are intertwined, under the sign of a call that invites all to set out in faith and walk with courage.
