FACULTY PRESENTATION

The Faculty is the coordinating structure of the Institute’s academic activity with regard to teaching and research in the field of theology.

It grew out of the development of the former “Theological Course” that had been active within the Institute since 1940, which was intended to ensure the training of Adventist ministers of worship and missionaries.

The Faculty of Theology’s courses are taught following a scientific methodology and pursuing academic excellence and can therefore be taken profitably even by those who are not primarily interested in pursuing a church profession.

Theological training in a university setting such as the Faculty guarantees a specific form of humanistic preparation useful for the maturation of the fundamental critical skills for orientation in any professional field.

Degrees awarded by the Adventist Faculty of Theology are recognized by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR). In fact, in the context of denominations other than Catholic, the possibility of having a degree awarded by a denominational institution recognized was first introduced with the agreement made with the Waldensian Table. Also in the law approving the next understanding, the one with the Italian Union of Adventist Christian Churches, no. 516 of 1988, recognition was given to degrees awarded by the Adventist Institute, which reads as follows in Article 14, as amended by Act No. 67 of 2009:

E-learning courses
Every year, the student body and faculty of the Adventist Faculty of Theology experience a spiritual retreat. A weekend in which they reflect together, in the company of some guests, on a topic chosen for the occasion. Meetings are enlivened by singing and small group reflections.
