The Adventist Institute “Villa Aurora” in Florence is participating in the PhD in Peace Studies, the first in Italy, sponsored by the Network of Italian Universities for Peace(RUniPace). This interdisciplinary program is hosted by the Department of History, Anthropology, Religion, Art and Performance atSapienza University of Rome and involves several Italian universities, including theUniversity of Pisa.
The Ph.D. explores topics such as technology, sustainability and peace; identity, memory religions and peace; peace education and migration; peace architectures and landscapes; peace economics; and restorative justice. With 10 curricula and scholarships available, this interdisciplinary program offers a unique academic education.
The Adventist Institute contributes as a co-funder and offers a graduate course in Theology with a focus on “Peace, Religion and Multiculturalism.” Davide Romano, pastor and director of the institute, stressed the importance of this program in today’s context, highlighting the value of theological education related to peace sciences and multicultural societies.
