On Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m., the “Libro Amico” series of meetings returns, dedicated to the presentation of relevant works in the contemporary cultural scene. The protagonist of this appointment will be Ethical Violence (Polity, 2024), the new book by Professor Carlo Bordoni, professor of sociology at the University of Pisa.
In Ethical Violence, Bordoni explores the topic of violence through an ethical perspective, analyzing how it is justified, experienced and interpreted in today’s society. The book investigates the tensions between morality, politics and power, offering a critical view of contemporary social dynamics. The author invites readers to reflect on the role of violence in human and political relations, asking crucial questions about how it can be understood and addressed ethically.
The meeting will feature Professor Hanz Gutierrez, a noted philosopher and theologian, who will interview Carlo Bordoni. Gutierrez will stimulate discussion, exploring the ethical implications of the concept of violence and the contribution of Ethical Violence to today’s moral debate. The discussion will touch on topical issues, including the use of violence in the political, social and cultural challenges we face today.
The meeting will be held at the Adventist Institute conference room, but it will also be possible to stream it for those who cannot be present in person at the link https://hopemedia.it/istituto-avventista/ and also on our Facebook page.
Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in a deep and thought-provoking reflection on the moral challenges that the issue of violence poses to society today.
