On Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m., the next meeting of the B.B. Beach Lectures 2024, a series of events devoted to topical philosophical, political and cultural issues, will be held. This meeting will feature a presentation of Professor Giacomo Marramao‘s new book, Towards a New Concept of the Political. A Defense of Universalism and Difference. (Routledge, 2024).
Giacomo Marramao, professor emeritus of political philosophy at the University of Rome 3, is known for his work on issues related to politics, modernity and globalization. In his new book, Marramao offers a reflection on how it is possible to redefine the concept of “the political” in the contemporary world through a defense of universalism that recognizes and values differences. Towards a New Concept of the Political explores the tensions between collective identities and the idea of universalism, seeking to strike a balance between the recognition of cultural diversity and the need for common principles.
During the meeting, philosophy and ethics expert Professor Hanz Gutierrez will interview Giacomo Marramao, exploring the implications of the book in the current context. The conversation will focus on how political thought can address the challenges of globalization and identity, reflecting on a new concept of universalism that does not eliminate, but integrates differences.
The meeting will be held at the Adventist Institute conference room, but it will also be possible to stream it for those who cannot be present in person at the link https://hopemedia.it/istituto-avventista/ or on our Facebook page.
Don’t miss the opportunity to reflect on these important issues with one of the most distinguished contemporary philosophers.
