Alberto Cavaglion (Cuneo, 1956) has been teaching History of Judaism at the University of Florence since 2009. Among his books: Felice Momigliano (1866-1924). A Biography, Italian Institute for Historical Studies-Il Mulino, 1988; By Invisible Way, Il Mulino, 1998; The Sense of the Ark. In 2005 with the book La Resistenza spiegata a mia figlia (The Mediterranean Anchor) she won the Lo Straniero Prize. Four editions of this book have been published (as of 2015 it is in Feltrinelli Paperbacks).

In 2018, he served on the National Committee for the celebration of the centenary of Giorgio Bassani’s birth. Since 2019, he has been a member of the National Committee for the celebration of the centenary of Primo Levi’s birth. He is a member (since 2012) of the Scientific Committee of the Villa Emma Foundation (Nonantola) and (since 2014) of the Archive B. Terracini in Turin. For the Campo di Fossoli Foundation (Carpi), he oversaw the new museum layout (in preparation, 2020).

Since 2016, he has been on the editorial board of The Monthly Review of Israel. Since 2013 he has maintained the weekly Ticketless column on the www.moked portal. He contributes to the cultural pages of “La Stampa” and is a member of the editorial board of “The Index of Books of the Month” magazine.

He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the MEIS (Museum of Italian Judaism) in Ferrara since July 7, 2020.

Among other things, he edited the edition of Massimo Mila, Scritti civili, with a note by Giulio Einaudi, Turin, Einaudi, 1995 (new, expanded ed., Milan, il Saggiatore, 2011); an annotated edition of I. B.’s Racconti. Singer in the Meridiani Mondadori, 1998; by Primo Levi, the annotated edition of If This is a Man (Einaudi-International Center for Primo Levi Studies, 2012) and A. Frank, Diaries (the original drafts), Oscar Mondadori, 2019.

His latest book is titled Toward the Promised Land. Italian writers in Jerusalem from Matilde Serao to Pier Paolo Pasolini, Carocci 2016.

Together with Paola Valabrega, he is the author of the Ninth Primo Levi Lecture, “Flaky and a Little Profane.” The Voice of the Sacred in P. Levi, Turin, Centro internazionale di studi Primo Levi-Einaudi, 2018 now collected in the Mondadori Baobab Oscars, 2020.
