The series of meetings of #LibroAmico, the Villa Aurora Adventist University Institute’s literary event that combines reflection, culture and dialogue, continues.
On Wednesday, March 12, at 11 a.m., the Institute’s Aula Magna will host Romano Màdera, philosopher and professor at the University of Milan-Bicocca, for the presentation of his new volume “Il nudo piacere di vivere. Philosophy as a therapy of existence” (Lindau, 2025). In dialogue with the author will be Hanz Gutierrez, professor of theology and philosophy.
In his latest essay, Màdera proposes a vision of philosophy as a practice of self-care, capable of restoring depth and meaning to everyday life. Far from being a theoretical or academic exercise, philosophy becomes – according to the author – a path of inner healing, a space in which to reconcile with one’s fragility and rediscover the authentic joy of existence.
During the meeting, the dialogue between Màdera and Gutierrez will offer insights into central themes of human experience: the search for meaning, the relationship with time and suffering, and the possibility of a lived wisdom. A confrontation that promises to strike deep chords, opening up the therapeutic dimension of thinking and listening.
Libro Amico thus continues to be a meeting place for thought and life, where reading becomes an opportunity for awareness and authors’ words become invitations for personal and community transformation.
The meeting will be held at the Adventist University Institute Conference Room (Via Ellen Gould White 8, Florence) and will be broadcast live on the Institute’s Facebook page: facebook.com/AdventistInstitute.
Event sponsored by CeCSUR – Cultural Center for Humanities and Religious Studies, in collaboration with the Adventist Faculty of Theology and theAdventist University Institute.
