Book Friend: “The Challenge of Gender. Between opportunities and risks” by Giuseppe Savagnone

The Libro Amico initiative, promoted by CeCSUR (Cultural Center for Human and Religious Sciences), continues with a new event dedicated to literature and cultural debate. CeCSUR was born as a socio-cultural initiative serving the city of Florence, promoted by the Adventist Faculty of Theology, the generosity of the Adventist community of this city and the financial contribution of the Union of Seventh-day Adventist Christian Churches.

On Wednesday, February 26 at 11 a.m., Giuseppe Savagnone, professor at LUMSA-Palermo, will present his latest book “The Challenge of Gender. Between Opportunities and Risks” (Cittadella Editrice, 2024). The book addresses a topic of great social relevance, exploring the cultural implications and contemporary debates related to the issue of gender. With an in-depth analysis and critical approach, the author examines both the opportunities offered by a greater fluidity of gender roles and the possible risks arising from an ideological polarization of the debate.

Interviewing the author will be Tamara Pispisa, a lecturer at the Adventist Faculty of Theology, who will lead the dialogue offering insights and stimulating discussion with the audience. Topics such as the role of educational institutions, the relationship between gender identity and religion, and the challenges facing contemporary society in redefining traditional concepts of male and female will be addressed.

The event will be held at the conference room of the Adventist Institute, 8 Ellen Gould White Street, Florence, and will also be streamed live on our Facebook and YouTube channels.
