Book Friend: “Pope Francis’ Integral Ecology. Spiritual roots of a perspective of salvation for humanity” by Gianfranco Poma and Walter Minella

On Wednesday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m., there will be a new event in the “Friend Book” series, dedicated to the presentation of the book “Pope Francis’ “Integral Ecology. Spiritual Roots of a Perspective of Salvation for Humanity.” (Morcelliana, 2024). This volume, written by Professors Gianfranco Poma and Walter Minella of the University of Bergamo, explores the concept of “integral ecology” introduced by Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato si’.

The text offers an in-depth analysis of the spiritual and theological roots of integral ecology, highlighting how it is not only about caring for the environment, but proposes a comprehensive worldview that combines social justice, respect for nature and human dignity. Poma and Minella reflect on how Pope Francis’ ecological approach represents a way of salvation for humanity in a historical period marked by environmental, social and economic crises.

During the meeting, Professor Hanz Gutierrez, theologian and philosopher, will conduct the interview with the authors. The discussion will focus on the importance of integral ecology as a concrete proposal for addressing global challenges, focusing on values such as solidarity, sustainability and care for creation.

The meeting will be held at the Adventist Institute conference room, but it will also be possible to stream it for those who cannot be present in person at the link: https://hopemedia.it/istituto-avventista/ and on our FaceBook page.

This meeting will be a valuable opportunity to explore a crucial issue of our time through a perspective that combines spirituality, ethics and social engagement. Don’t miss it!
