On Thursday, March 13 at 11:00 a.m., the Florence Adventist Institute’s Conference Room will host a new event of “Libro Amico,” the series of meetings dedicated to literature and cultural debate.
The featured book at the event will be “Dialogue on Medically Assisted Suicide” (CNR Editions, 2024), a text that addresses a topic of great topicality and ethical complexity. The volume, edited by the Scientific Council of the Courtyard of the Gentiles with an introduction by Giuliano Amato, proposes an articulate and multidisciplinary reflection on the issue of medically assisted suicide, with the aim of offering insights for a constructive dialogue.
Two prominent experts will be present:
Luciano Orsi, palliative care physician and Scientific Director of the Italian Journal of Palliative Care, who will offer his contribution on the medical and bioethical dimensions of the issue.
Mariella Orsi, sociologist and former Vice-President of the Regional Bioethics Commission, who will explore the topic from a social and ethical perspective.
The meeting will be moderated by Hanz Gutierrez, lecturer at the Adventist Faculty of Theology, who will lead the discussion by stimulating discussion between the speakers and the audience present.
For those who cannot be present in the hall, the event will be streamed live on the Adventist Institute’s Facebook page, providing an opportunity for a wider audience to follow the discussion and participate virtually.
The initiative is sponsored by CeCSUR (Cultural Center for Humanities and Religious Studies), in collaboration with the Adventist University Institute and the Adventist Faculty of Theology, with support from the Adventist 8×1000.
An unmissable opportunity to explore a complex topic in depth, with input from experts and the possibility of open discussion that respects different perspectives.
